Senior Engineer - Linux Kernel

to be part of our teams, working for the International Automotive Market, from Greece.

Job Description: As an Senior Linux Engineer you will be responsible for customizing and enhancing the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) to meet our product requirements. You will work closely with our hardware, software, and design teams to integrate new features, improve performance, and ensure the stability of our Android-based devices. Training in AOSP development will be provided to equip you with the necessary skills.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

• Get familiarized with AOSP (training provided).
• Develop, customize, and maintain Android OS based on AOSP
• Integrate hardware drivers and optimize the Android framework for specific hardware platforms.
• Implement new features and functionalities into the Android platform.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including hardware, software, and design to define and implement new features.
• Debug and resolve issues related to the Android platform, including performance tuning and optimizing resource usage.
• Integrate and work with Trusted Execution Environment (TEE) for enhanced security (training provided).
• Stay up-to-date with the latest Android developments and trends, and integrate relevant updates into the project.

Requirements:

• Self-motivation and willingness to learn AOSP/Android Automotive
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in software development.
• Strong proficiency in Linux and C/C++ .
• Strong understanding of the Linux kernel.
• Minimal interaction with Java
• Basic experience with Android SDK, NDK, and/ or Android Studio.
• Understanding of software development lifecycle and best practices.
• Experience with version control systems, particularly Git.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to debug complex system-level issues.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Knowledge of embedded systems and hardware interfaces (e.g., UART, I2C, SPI)
• Minimal interaction with Rust.
• Familiarity with security best practices for Android, including generic concepts like TEE, SELinux.
• Contributions to open-source projects.
• Experience with Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
• Understanding of Android architecture, including frameworks, libraries, and services
• First experience with Android HAL or BSP development.

Prerequisites:

• Ability to travel abroad, as needed (<= 10%).
• Participation to technical interviews.
• Possible Participation to a technical test.
