Environmental Specialist

Sunlight Recycling (part of Sunlight Group) was established in 2014 in Komotini. It is one of Europe's most advanced lead-acid battery recycling units. The expansion underway will also bring it to the top of single unit recycling plants, as one of the biggest producers of secondary lead in Europe.

Due to continuous growth and expansion, Sunlight Recycling offers a great opportunity for career development and is seeking to attract an  Environmental Specialist to join our Lead Recycling team at Sunlight’s Athens premises.

The Environmental Specialist will be responsible for company’s waste management, handling imports and exports of hazardous/non-hazardous waste, organizing and registering waste transportations, preparing environmental reports, and providing administrative support to Lead Recycling Division.

Key activities and responsibilities of this role include

• Prepare and monitor required documentation for imports and exports of hazardous/non-hazardous waste, ensuring compliance with all relevant requirements
• Coordinate waste management of the recycling plant
• Control, archive, and register in the database all the incoming materials and update the relevant purchase records
• Prepare environmental reports and Electronic Waste Register
• Coordinate the transportation of waste, communicate with the authorities for transportation of wastes and ensure compliance with the applicable legislation
• Conduct market research for waste management solutions
• Provide support to the Buyers by making purchases of scrap materials

Requirements

• BSc/MSc in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or relevant degree
• At least 5 years of experience in a relevant role
• Fluency in Greek & English (both verbal & written) is a must
• Knowledge of Italian and/or German is an asset
• Excellent communication and negation skills with the ability to build trustworthy relationships
• Attention to detail, highly organized and problem resolving mentality
